Search Committee

• Dan Boge has been attending Community Church since 1994. Dan has been involved in small groups and has been a small group leader. He served as a trustee for seven years and has been an elder for the past four years. Dan is a CPA and is involved in a variety of business ventures. Dan and his wife, Gail, live in Mt. Pleasant and have three children: Ryan (26), Steve (24), and Nicole (18).

• Tim Hall and his family came to Community Church the first Sunday after moving to Mt. Pleasant in 1993 and stayed. Tim and his wife, Sheree, have served as small group leaders since 1994 and Tim was first ordained an elder in 1997. He returned to Session in 2008 and is now chairing the Search Committee. Tim is chair of the History department at Central Michigan University. He and Sheree have two children: Alethea (21) and Ian (15).

• Phil Hepworth and his wife, Bethany, have been attending Community Church for almost seven years. Phil serves on the Deacon board, as well as volunteering with his wife in different ministries as they are able. Phil and Bethany are excited to welcome their first child in July, 2009. Phil does maintenance/repair work for a local student rental company and is also a part-time firefighter and EMT.


• Tom Idema and his wife, Judy, have been attending Community Church since January, 2002. After attending just one service, they both agreed Community Church felt like “home.” At Community Church Tom has served on the parking ministry (a.k.a. Coneheads), volunteered at Vacation Bible School, attends Family Faith Nights, and has been a small group leader for several years. The Idemas have been married for 11 years and have two daughters, Taylor (7), and Allison (3). Tom has worked at Central Michigan University for eleven years; his current job is Assistant Director of Student Life.
 

 
 

• Robert Duncan Joynt has participated in the ministries of Mt. Pleasant Community Church since 1995. Bob has enjoyed serving in the areas of facility construction and maintenance, church operations, as a trustee, and currently serves on the missions committee, the Community Compassion Network Board and as a deacon. Married to Kris for 38 years, Bob and Kris enjoy travel and frequent trips to Chicago where their adult children, Elizabeth and Matthew, live. Bob is currently employed as a trainer in the areas of human development and resources.

• Jan King is a founding member and elder at Community Church with a solid Lutheran background. Prayer is her passion which she enjoys sharing with her husband, two daughters and spouses and two grandsons as well as everyone else. Teaching prayer, speaking on prayer techniques and encouraging prayers has broadened her focus and stretched her to strive towards her life verses: I Thess. 5:16-18 and Prov. 3:5-6.

• Kathy Long has been on staff at Community Church for eighteen years and is currently the Director of Children's and Family Ministry. She also gives staff leadership to Women's Comedy Night and the Mom's Heart Ministry. She is married to Ed Long, Professor of Family Studies at Central Michigan University. Their son, Toby, his wife, Andrea, and their granddaughter, Elise, live in Grand Junction, Colorado, where Toby is doing his residency in Family Medicine. Daughter Tarami teaches at Alma Public Schools and is graduating in May with her Master's in Counseling Ed. Kathy loves sharing hospitality through her home and being a guest speaker on a variety of family and children's ministry topics.

• Kathy Roberson has been attending Community Church since 1994. She has volunteered in many different areas of children’s ministry. She is currently a team leader for the 3rd and 4th grade KidZone classes, helps plan the summer Vacation Bible School, and is in charge of the teaching supplies needed for VBS. She also helps with the Mobile Food Pantries of Community Compassion Network. During the week, Kathy is a Library Skills teacher at the elementary schools of the Bullock Creek School District in Midland, MI. She is a single mom of two children: Sarah (22) and Ben (15).

• Cal Seelye has been attending Community Church for over twelve years. He has been involved in the Trustee Board for the past four years, currently serving as the Chair. Cal and his wife, Christa, will celebrate fifteen years of marriage on June 25, 2009. Christa serves on the Children's Ministry team at Community Church. They have three children: Shane (13), Lauryn (9) and Brett (7). All are active in the ministries offered for their age group. Cal is employed at Central Michigan University as an Assistant Director of Residence Life.

• Dean Wallin is a founding member of Community Church and loves the church’s volunteerism and intergenerational makeup. He is an elder but not currently on Session. He has been a small group leader for twenty years and has also served as a trustee and deacon. He works for Central Michigan University as the Director of the Center for Leisure Services, coordinating internship placements and an international student program with Walt Disney World. Dean is married to Deb and they have two children: Bret, a professional musician in the band Anathallo, and Bethany, a regional staffing manager for Aramark in Chicago.

• Deb Fahr is a founding member of MPCC. She serves in children's ministry, directs the bell choirs, sings in the choir, serves at VBS, is an elder (not currently serving) and she and her husband Brad are involved in small group ministries. She and Brad have been married for 35 years and have 2 sons-Erich(29), his wife Jordan and special new grandson Jackson in Ohio and Matt(26) who lives in California. By day you can find her teaching first grade at Pullen School and one evening she teaches an education class at CMU.
