VBS 2008 HIGHLIGHTS

Wow! Over 660 kids joined us for this week’s exciting expedition for Sonfari Adventure. Many children chose to take their first steps in their faith journey as a Christ-follower! Thanks for “Going Bananas” to the over 400 volunteers who served in all the areas of ministry in the jungle.

After VBS Events - An unquestionable success. A record 142 teenagers served at VBS this year. Over 100 stuck around everyday afterwards for lunch and fun. A week of service, bowling, tubing and laser tag has worn us all out, but it was worth it.

Nickels for Nets - The Sonfari kids raised about $2,000.00! Enough money for 200 mosquito nets. These nets will help protect kids in Africa from malaria, a leading killer of kids there.

Sonfari Music CD - We have put together a collection of all the great songs we sang on our Sonfari Adventure. CD’s are available for $10.00 at the Jambo Hut! (Guest Information Booth)

Sonfari Adventure is not Over in KidZone - Join us for Summer Sundays at 9:30 or 11:00 am in July and August as we continue our adventure of learning about what we need on our journey as a Christ-follower! Tales of the Trek Characters will be stopping by, guest storytellers will share exciting adventures from the Bible, sing the Sonfari Songs and more!!

We Need You! Monday, July 7th and Tuesday, July 8th we need MANY volunteers to help take down and put away the props and decorations used for Sonfari Adventure.

Thanks For Your Donations for THRIVE AFRICA!

Thanks to all who donated time and treasures to the Thrive Africa Mission Trip garage sale fundraiser. The sale was held May 22-25 at the Horanoff’s house and was a smashing success! Between garage sale proceeds and some cash donations by garage sale patrons, more than $2,100 was raised to defer costs for the mission trip. Items not sold (and they were mighty few!) were delivered to Goodwill in Mt. Pleasant, for sale in their thrift shop. The 3 person mission trip to South Africa begins July 9, and ends July 30. If you still want to help you can!
