ORPHANAGE OUTREACH IN MONTE
CHRISTI
Thanks to the prayers, financial
support, volunteer time and
donations, many wonderful things
are happening in Monte Cristi.
•
More than 20 babies have
utilized the Neonatal Intensive
Care Unit since it opened in
February 2008.
•
Forty children are living at the
orphanage in Monte Cristi,
receiving excellent basic
necessities and care.
•
Orphanage Outreach volunteers
provided introductory English
classes and learning camps to
over 2000 children.
•
Sixty 5th and 6th graders
completed their first or second
year of English classes at the
Orphanage Outreach English
Institute.
•
In
partnership with Los Medicos
Voladores, over 1000 people were
seen at medical and dental
clinics in March, and also
received health education
classes from Orphanage Outreach
university volunteers.
•
The construction of the second
floor orphanage sleeping area
above the boy's room was
completed, and the area above
the girls sleeping area should
be completed by this fall.
•
Significant enhancements to the
English Institute were
completed, including expanding
the sleeping capacity to 50
volunteers, adding two
classrooms, and replacing the
thatch roof with a metal roof.
•
Significant enhancements to the
volunteer area at the orphanage
were completed, including new
team leader housing and the
construction of a large dining
room pavilion.
•
Project Green - Four solar
panels were installed to power
two low-watt freezers, and a
hand water pump was installed to
reduce power consumption.
•
Many more accomplishments, large
and small, were made possible by
Orphanage Outreach volunteers
and donors. Thank you for your
support!
