Parents
of Junior Highers!
Hey, I don't mean to
scare you parents of 7th graders, but
your kids are in junior high school.
Now, I know that that is a scary idea
for many of you, but don't worry, its
not high school high school yet, only
the junior one.
Well, whether you're
ready or not… we are!
We here at StudentLife
Ministries (SLiM) have been anxiously
awaiting the start of this school year.
We've made a big programming shift to
Friday nights and we're really excited
about what will be happening this fall.
Here are the big changes…
1. It's Friday nights,
because junior highers have nothing else
to do on Fridays.
2. Instead of dinner,
we'll have food and snacks stocked in
the café for sale. This means you can
eat dinner with your family and then
send them on to youth group.
3. We've got two
staffs working with us; a programming
staff that are still as crazy as junior
highers ready to crack them up, and a
pastoral staff that remembers what its
like to be in junior high and who are
waiting to learn their names, and help
them navigate these crazy two years of
middle school.
Here are the 3 good
ways for you to stay connected and make
sure your child gets involved with us at
the Element (our 7th & 8th grade group).
1. Element Lock-Out -
September 12, 2008. We'll be kicking off
our year with a late night of fun and
games. We'll get together in the youth
center at church at 6pm. We'll wrap
things up at midnight. The night will be
spent around town. Previous years
activities include bowling, dodgeball,
broomball, video games, and movies.
2. Join us with your
kid for our parent open house on
September 26th. We'll have fun all
together and then pull the parents aside
to fill you in on everything.
3. Check the website
for up-to-date calendar, all the forms,
and posts of new events and ways to
connect. Visit
