Congregational Meeting
Sunday, December 21, 10:05am in the Chapel

A meeting of church members will be held Sunday, December 21, 10:05am in the chapel. Two items of business will be presented for vote:

1. Election of officers. Each year at this time, our congregation elects officers (elders, deacons, and trustees) and nominations committee members. Elders provide spiritual oversight for our church and are the highest "office" in our church. Deacons perform acts of sympathy and service. Trustees manage our church facilities and financial systems. Each of these officers serves a three-year term. In addition, nominations committee members are elected by the congregation for a two-year term.

The following slate of candidates is being unanimously recommended by the Nominations Committee. For the office of elder: Deb Wallin, Tom Dennis (second term), Tim Driessnack (second term), Duane Ellis (second term). For the office of Deacon: Phil Hepworth, Doris Lucas (second term), Kurt Adams (second term). For the office of Trustee: Steve Bradley, Janet Lomason (second term), Jeff Palmer (second term). For the Nominations Committee: Dean Wallin (second term), Brian LaMew (second term).

Members of this year's nominations committee include Tim Hall (chair), Dan Boge (elder rep), Cal Seelye (trustee rep), Doris Lucas (deacon rep), Jill Almasi-Dole (member at large), Brian LaMew (member at large), Dean Wallin (member at large), Greg Burch (member at large), and Scott McKee (ex-officio).

2. Call Brian LaMew as an Associate Pastor.  The Session unanimously recommends to the congregation that Brian LaMew be called as an Associate Pastor. Changing Brian's status from "Assistant Pastor" to "Associate Pastor" makes him an elder and gives him a seat and vote on Session. Associate Pastors (like Senior Pastors) are called directly by the congregation and any changes in compensation must be approved by vote of the congregation. All other pastors and employees and considered to be hired by the Session. The elders feel that moving Brian to "Associate" is an affirmation of his pastoral work and formalizes his status on the pastoral team.
