attend
the venue
Recently,
to make sure we have enough seats for
all of o our new visitors, we've added
another service. The Venue at 9:30am
will be running until Memorial Day
weekend and we need you to attend. The
Venue offers everything you would expect
in a Community Church service in a more
intimate, cafe-style setting. Come check
it out at 9:30am in the chapel and help
us make this new service a success.

Senior
Pastor Search
The Senior
Pastor Search Committee has been hard at
work behind the scenes preparing a
Senior Pastor job description and an
“Opportunity Profile” on the basis of
the input we have gleaned from the
Executive Staff, Elders and church
leaders, and many members of the
congregation, both through the survey
and from personal conversations. It has
been a time-consuming process, but we
are confident that the time we have
invested will enable us to put Community
Church’s best foot forward.

Congregational
Survey Results
The Senior
Pastor Search Committee has completed a
summary of major findings in the
Congregational Survey in which many of
you participated back in March. The
survey results confirm that Mt. Pleasant
Community Church is a very special place
indeed, as our consultant Russ Crabtree
repeated several times during the course
of our meeting.

End of the Year Charity Drive at CMU
It is that time again! The time when CMU
students prepare to go home for the
summer. As in past years, a team of
dedicated Hall Directors and Residence
Life in collaboration with the CMU
Dining Services have promoted a chance
for students to help those in need while
minimizing the number of useful items
that might otherwise make their way into
dumpsters all over campus.

Compassion
News for May
Note
from Sue
The month of April was wonderful in so
many ways. We saw the first signs of
spring; the sun was much more prevalent,
the first flowers popped their heads up
out of the soil, the birds have returned
to our feeders and Community Church
stepped up to the challenge we put
before them: to welcome 455 special
guests into their home church with open
arms for an Easter Celebration!

Love INC - Isabella County Churches
Unite
Love
In the Name of Christ or Love INC brings
Christian churches together, across
denominational lines, to help the poor
and those in need by meeting immediate
needs such as food and clothing, to
longer term responses through relational
ministries such as life skills training
and transitional housing.
Over the past 6 - 12 months, a dedicated
group of Isabella County ministers and
lay people, including representatives
from Community Compassion Network have
been prayerfully working to bring a Love
INC to Isabella County. We are now
incorporated and have a functioning
board. We are excited, at this time, to
invite you to hear from Carrie Sheffler,
the director of Affiliates of Love INC,
about the next steps we will take to
develop our own LoveINC of Isabella
County.

Brought a Friend to Church Lately?
Have
you brought a friend to church lately?
You'll want them to know about the
Welcome Center, located in Hospitality
Center next to the Information Center
and by the Venue in the Fellowship Hall.
The Welcome Center on Sunday mornings
has always been a place for visitors to
get a free gift and get information
about Community Church. Now, in addition
to the useful water bottle that first
time visitors receive, anyone who needs
and requests a Bible will receive one
free of charge at the Welcome Center.
The Welcome Center is also a place where
the pastors can b e available to chat
with, answer some questions or introduce
to your next door neighbor.
The Welcome Center is staffed regularly
by volunteers. If you love to talk with
new visitors and are interested in
helping out once a month after one of
the services, please email

Small Group Leaders Recruitment
Summer 2009
Interested
in becoming a Small Group Leader? You've
seen how a small group has worked and
think they're great... but you're not
sure that you've got what it takes to be
a leader yourself. God isn't looking for
the most dynamic speaker or presenter in
the world...what He's looking for is
someone who has the heart to help others
to find out more about Him. You may be
that person.
Community Church's Small Group Leader
Team is looking to find 10-20 small
group leaders to train over the summer.
We hope to have 10-20 new small groups
ready to work together this fall. Want
to find out more? Email
kim@mpcc.org with your questions.
You may be more ready than you think!
