Mt. Pleasant Community Church

VISION

By God's grace, to be a dynamic biblical community sharing the redeeming love of Jesus Christ. (Acts 2:42-47)

ACTS 2:42-47 They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43 Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. 44 All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45 Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. 46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. (NIV)

MISSION

To seek out and encourage all people to be growing disciples of Jesus Christ. (Matthew 28:18-20)

Matthew 28:18-20 Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." (NIV)

Statement of Core Values of MPCC

Preface: The following biblical values are held by Mt. Pleasant Community Church in order to provide purposeful direction to the ongoing ministry of this church. In response to God's leading, these values taken together guide our investment of time, talents, and finances in ministries.

1. We believe in the Essentials of our Faith: In essentials unity, in non-essentials liberty, and in all things charity. (See separate document).

Jude 3 Dear friends, although I was very eager to write to you about the salvation we share, I felt I had to write and urge you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to the saints. (NIV)

2. We believe Spirit-empowered teaching of God's Word is vital to the life of the Church.

John 14:26 But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. (NIV)

3. We believe prayer and study of the Bible is indispensable to the life of each believer and the Church.

Ephesians 6:18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints. (NIV)

4. We believe God desires each believer to grow continuously in knowledge of Him, relationship with Him, and faith in Him.

Ephesians 4:15 Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ. (NIV)

5. We believe that worship in spirit and truth is our loving response to God's actions and character.

John 4:23-24 Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. 24 God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth. (NIV)

6.We believe that cultivating and giving the best of who we are and what we have yields excellence in ministry which honors God and inspires people.

Colossians 3:17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. (NIV)

7. We believe God has given every believer spiritual gifts and that the cultivation and use of these gifts for the common good glorifies God and builds up the community of believers.

1 Corinthians 12:7 Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. (NIV)

8. We believe God has called us to be family to one another. We believe families matter to God and are to be honored, supported and equipped through the ministries of our church.

Genesis 17:7 I will establish my covenant as an everlasting covenant between me and you and your descendants after you for the generations to come, to be your God and the God of your descendants after you. (NIV)

9. We believe that purposeful small group settings are especially effective for promoting spiritual, caring relationships that lead to Christ-centered growth.

Matthew 18:20 For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them. (NIV)

10. We believe lost people matter to God and that reaching the lost is central to our ministry. Through us the light of the World shines from the local community to the ends of the earth.

Luke 19:10 For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost. (NIV)

11. We believe God calls each believer to serve others in love and humility across boundaries of age, culture, and life experiences.

Matthew 20:28 Just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many. (NIV)

12. We believe effective ministry is purposeful and is generationally and culturally relevant.
